Storm Drain and Erosion Control

Civil engineering projects generally involve storm drain design. Examples include municipalities experiencing flooding, site development of new and existing land, and roadway projects. In most cases local city or county standards govern the design methods used to estimate storm water runoff and methods of conveyance.

Our Hydrology and Hydraulics department utilizes advanced software such as InfoWorks to model watershed runoff characteristics as well as storm sewer hydraulics. Bridge, channel and culvert analyses are often performed with HEC-RAS.

We attempt to find creative solutions to storm drain design by combining field data of existing conditions, especially during storm events, with the predictive modeling.
